Kaylee Johnston released her self-titled EP June 3, 2016. The collection of unforgettable hooks, empowerment anthems, and shiny dance floor gems was produced by Steve Smith and Anthony Anderson of SA Trackworks. Her single and music video, “Getting Over You,” remixed by LA-based duo Stu G & Robot Disco Puma and mixed by Orlando Vitto (Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland, Britney Spears), has captured the attention of critics and fans alike. Garnering comparisons to indie-pop favourites Robyn and Carly Rae Jepsen, the music video gained upwards of 45,000 views on YouTube.
Since the EP’s release, Kaylee has been popping up on media across Canada, appearing on Toronto’s CP24 morning show, Sirius XM, Shaw TV Vancouver, and an HMV in-store interview with Toronto-based blog A Music Blog Yea. With her single “Are You the One” counting upwards of 245,000 streams on Spotify, Kaylee showcased at Rifflandia and Break Out West, leading to connections through out Canada and the UK. Now living in London, Kaylee is currently working on her next album.
"Kaylee Johnston is Canada's next big pop-star."
"'Getting Over You,' is a punchy empowerment jam that is rooted in experiencing the magic that happens when a break up turns into an opportunity."
"Raw and honest, 'Are You the One' hears Johnston incorporating R&B, soul and rock influences, even edging towards rap on one particularly rapid-fire refrain."
"New song 'Try' bridges the effervescence of Carly Rae Jepsen and the alt-rock charm of late ‘90s Natalie Imbruglia. It’s all about Johnston’s crystalline voice, which conveys emotion and charisma with a directness that’s arresting."
